Newt Migration: Roadkill
A stark example of conflict between humans and newts can be found at Lexington Reservoir in California. Every year thousands of newts are crushed by cars traveling down the road. Each body is counted one by one on the Pacific Newt Roadkill iNaturalist project. Currently (2021), more than 16,000 bodies have been counted.
